Together with a British sailing team, Duchess Kate participated in a race in the English Channel.

Wearing wetsuits, the wife of Queen’s great-grandson Prince William finished at sea off Plymouth on Olympic champion Ben Ainsley’s F50 catamaran in front of the New Zealand team. Thousands watched the friendly match from the beach on Sunday.

The Duchess was in the port city in southwest England in her role as patron of the 1851 Trust, the charity of the UK’s SailGP. Helps young people aged 11-16 gain experience in science, technology, and engineering.

Ainsley praised Kate: “She’s a really good sailor,” said Sir Benn. I have sailed with her several times. But after Kate spent a lot of time talking to members of the SailGP race, he jokingly urged her to speed up: “Come on, we have a mating race at the race.”
