Basel: Tattoo Basel with Royal Guard – Basel

From the other end of the world comes, so to speak, the musical “national team” of New Zealand, the New Zealand Army Band. The journey continues across the Pacific to Mexico to the colorful Aztecs, dancers and mariachis, who impress with their spirited and energetic performances. A little further north – in Canada – Canadian Celtic Highland dancers are at home. Group of Fifty tells the story of Scottish immigrants through dance. Five Canadian pipe bands and a Royal Canadian Mounted Police delegation accompany the dancers and honor the historic link between Scotland and Canada.

Guests from Scotland

The last stage belongs to Europe, namely to the band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland. Although Scottish bands are most closely associated with bagpipes, this group has a long tradition of brass music and can trace back to a musical heritage that dates back to Mozart’s time.

Of course, every tattoo of Basel includes a bit of “Swissness,” as confirmed by the organizers. The Lucerne Marching Band is a guest in the barracks courtyard. It is considered the leading formation of Feldmusik Lucerne. In their historic blue and white uniforms, the formation is present at important events at home and abroad.

The recruiting game for the Swiss military band also means the musical class. Young and dynamic musicians demonstrate excellent skills against the historical backdrop of the barracks in Basel at the end of their training.
