Weil am Rhein: Simon Rösch doubles as DJ Bobo – Weil am Rhein

Casting took place in his living room. Rösch had to play a scene, record it and send it to Cologne. It was a convincing performance. Shortly thereafter, the promise came that the officials had made up their mind about the hamlet.

“The agency called on Monday, I had to be in Mallorca by Friday,” says the former Otlinger, whose parents run the small winery “Fennisle” in the mountain village. After the teacher, who had studied sports, geography and biology and also had a PhD in the subject of scientific education, received the go-ahead from his school, he traveled to the Balearic Islands.

Monday commitment, Friday in Mallorca

The party scene with “DJ Bobo” took one day to shoot. “The days before, which used to be preparation and getting to know the team, were stressful,” says Roche. He was surprised by the great atmosphere in the entire film cast: “Everyone was nice.” And in the evening he met the director, film producer and cameraman at a cozy end. Even if the stay was relatively short and the film roll small, the days in Mallorca were an enriching experience for the 44-year-old.

By the way: Originally, DJ Bobo was supposed to star in the movie himself, but he wasn’t able to for scheduling reasons. At the time of the shooting he was in America. Thus, a double had to be found – and that was Simon Roach.

It has not yet been confirmed when the film will be shown, as the filming of the second season, “The King of Palma”, will continue until mid-January. It is likely that the films will be seen in the spring or early summer of next year, first on RTL + and then on free TV.

Simon Roach was a passionate actor from a very young age. He made his stage debut at the age of six with the Ötlingen Singing Club. Soon, attention was drawn to the young man and his talent. “It’s gotten more professional over the years,” he says of his acting career.

Roch played at the Theater am Mühlenrein (Tamm) in Weil, at the Tournitheater Balmain in Riehen and participated in the Burgfestspiele in Roteln, where he was a director for a few years. And he reveals the play that theater lovers in the region are waiting for next year in the castle: “Life is a Festival”, which is originally a French comedy, and there is now a theatrical version of it.

Is Simon Roach more fascinated by acting or directing? “It’s balanced,” he says. He gave up the management of the Riehen Chamber Theatre, which he had occupied for a few years with his colleague Isolde Polzin, in the summer for reasons of time. But you will see Simon Rösch, who still has good connections with this theater, as an actor in the future. He will participate in the play “Gut gegen Nordwind”, a love story. In any case, the avid theater man enjoys working on two tracks – as an actor and as a director.
