Foreign Minister Cassis travels to Southeast Asia and Oceania

Federal Chancellor Ignazio Cassis is making his first official visit to Australia and New Zealand. Research and business are the focus of his ten-day visit to the Southeast Asia and Pacific region, which begins in Indonesia and Singapore.

The Swiss Foreign Minister’s visit comes a few days after his American counterpart, Anthony Blinken, visited the same region. Cassis’ flight begins on Tuesday in Indonesia and then travels to Singapore. As announced by the Federal Foreign Office (EDA).

A few months ago, Switzerland announced its growing interest in the Asia-Pacific region. The Federal Council presented for the first time the foreign policy strategy for the region until 2026.

Cassis will arrive in Australia on August 6 before traveling to New Zealand. After Didier Burkhalter ten years ago, he is the second Swiss Foreign Minister to carry out an official mission to these two countries. (Saw/SDA)
