A new collective space at the Museum of Civilization

In order to stimulate the actions of citizens and society, the Museum of Civilization offers a new, ever-evolving space where everyone can participate in different ways in developing their critical thinking.

Far from the usual exhibition, highway Instead it offers an itinerary laid out in six areas around the theme of awareness, listening, commitment, exposure, tools, and desire for a better world.

Kindness is at the heart of this collective space. Project manager Gabrielle Harrison, who is well involved in the cultural community, has been working for two years to create this place for social innovation. After several meetings with organizations, the team was able to identify the community’s needs.

The space is designed around different stages or skills that we must develop to have an ethic of kindness and welcome this exchange of differences of opinion. says Gabrielle Harrison, project manager for the Voie libre collective space.

The “Show Yourself in the Field of Possibilities” area invites citizens to put their ideas and creativity on paper.

A theme for each region

Different spaces provide separate reflection. There are objects related to museum exhibits and collectors’ items.

The route also includes artworks, including a mural on the theme of artificial intelligence designed by Wartin Pantoa, a model created by scenographer Vano Hutton and installations created by the organizations Pech-Sherpa and Engrenage St-Roch.

The goal is to provide a warm and inspiring place to relax and open minds. According to Ms. Harrison, there are no similar sophisticated places in museums in Quebec and even elsewhere.

The work has been created

This group space will provide various workshops for families and school groups. The museum intends to develop further partnerships with regional organizations so that they can use the buildings for their exhibitions or cultural mediation activities. Programming will evolve over time.
