24 Hours of Le Mans: The arrival of the rain causes a mayhem of accidents
Absent for several days, Rain decided to show up during the centenary 24 Hours of Le Mans. Obviously the drivers are not used to it anymore as some did not expect it and kept their slick tyres. The result is a heads-to-tail and “straight” breed. Just three hours into the race, former Formula 1 driver Esteban Gutierrez left the track at the wheel of his Glickenhaus. He paved the way for his counterparts since the No. 3 Cadillac, driven by New Zealander Scott Dixon, went to mow the sides of the paddock again.
These incidents resulted in the yellow flag coming out and the lane pitting a large portion of the cars, causing a huge queue to come out of the dashboard. At the time of this writing, the No. 94 Peugeot, of which Frenchman Loic Duval was one of the drivers, was leading. On the other hand, the Peugeot 93 was less successful.
With Jean-Eric Vergne on board, she slid into a corner while the safety car was on the track and was 10th. Left in the gravel, the race car had to be flown in and is now 30th.
