Welshman Alun Wayne Jones ends his international career

From his top 170 selections for Wales, he bows the legendary second line on the international stage.

Legendary Wales number two Alun Wynn-Jones, the most capped international player, announced on Friday that he is ending his international career. “After keeping the preliminary selections for the World Cup and discussions with management and the WRU (Welsh Rugby Union, editor’s note), I have decided to end my international career.Alun Wayne Jones said in a statement on Instagram.

Aged 37, in his seventeen years he has appeared in 170 international caps, 158 with XV du Leek and 12 with the British and Irish Lions.

The Wales stainless captain has won the Six Nations six times (2008, 2012, 2013, 2019 and 2021), penning three Grand Slam tournaments in the process. Jones also competed at four worlds between 2007 and 2019.
