Thomas Lemoyne III at the pump track and second overall

Triumph and platform. This is Tomas Lemoine’s assessment on the occasion of the third stage of the Crankworx World Tour in Cairns, Australia. Two days before the gold medalist in the Speed and Style category, the Frenchman once again distinguished himself by finishing third on the pump track.

In his second Australian event, Lemoine managed to make it to the semi-finals in the discipline. Up against Australian Jayce Cunning, the Habs only saw the good form of their opponent – the recent winner of this pump track challenge – who won both runs. To finish the race well, Thomas Lemoine nevertheless took the upper hand against New Zealander Dan Butterworth and thus finished third.

Duel over the top with Van Steenbergen

Leading the overall classification for “King of Crankworx” ahead of this third stage of the Crankworx World Tour, the Frenchman had a distance fight with Canadian Bas Van Steenbergen. To be rewarded with the title of Most Versatile Racer of the Season, you must participate in at least two of the five events that make up each stage of the CWT.

For his Canadian rival, the record is even better. Van Steenbergen chose to participate in an event other than Lemoine. Fifth in speed and style and 11th in the slopes (downhill), the weekend didn’t start under a better sponsor. But in his last two appearances, the Canadian managed to take two second places, on the pump track and double slalom.

In this distance duel, van Steenbergen leads the overall classification (533 points), directly ahead of Tomas Lemoine (520 points). Ahead of the last round in Rotorua (New Zealand) from November 5th to 13th, the gap between the riders is narrowing. He is followed by Australian Mick Hana by a large margin (370 points). The Canadian, the double “King of Crankwork” title holder, will want to do everything in his power to retain his crown for the third year in a row.
