We try not to open the wardrobe of the Four Winds superlatives when we talk about Melody Julian. However…from the 800m I ran in winds of 4 or 5m per second on a Travet track two years ago and where, without competition, I hit 2’07”66, in the 10km road I finished the race at 32’29’ In Ibiza last month, at the covered Seville Half Marathon at 111’06’ on January 29th, we thought we had already seen all its potential. Valerie Goffin can congratulate herself on finishing her first season with Everton in an impressive fifth place in the Women’s Premier League, one of the most competitive leagues in the world. With a total of 5 goals in 15 matches, the 25-year-old striker has proven her ability to adapt in a foreign country. Nothing is clear for who left her Occitan cocoon in 2020, the cradle of her football career, with youth at Mirande and then in Toulouse where she completed her training, before turning professional and joining Montpellier in 2014. Her comfort zone, top scorer with 37 selections has not been spared the crisis health or injury. However, she held on to join the Blues last November against Kazakhstan, with a goal in the key. If her club is going through turbulent territory today (coach Jean-Luc Wasser was recently fired), Valerie Goffin intends to raise the bar and return to the Blue Train, with Euro 2022 in her sights, which will take place…in England.
