Mount Maunganui (New Zealand) (AFP) – New Zealand were 10 unbeaten in their second round at lunch on Match Day 4 of Test 1 against Bangladesh at Mount Maunganui on Tuesday, still 120 points behind.

Tom Latham, who missed the first set, was 10 and Will Young had yet to cross the mark, trading three times before the break after Bangladesh had 458 in response to New Zealand’s 328.

After resuming the day at 401 for six, the tourists lost their last four wickets for 57.

Mehdi Hassan and Yasir Ali put 75 into the seventh wicket before Mehdi was the first to go down to 47 after being pardoned earlier today when he successfully reviewed lbw’s decisions.

Delivered twice in a seven-ball space, it was saved by recycles that showed the ball grazing the gauntlet first and the bat grazing before the pad second.

At the age of 43, Mehdi became the 16th Bangladeshi to pass 1000 test races, but his luck changed soon after when he met him to give Tim South his first window.

Yasser ran on three times before being caught for 26, leaving Southie and Trent Bolt to clear the tail.

Bolt was New Zealand’s most successful land grabber with a score of four out of 85, while Neil Wagner finished with three out of 101.
