The 2022 International Portrait Photographer of the Year competition has revealed its list of the most beautiful pictures of 2022. The first prize was awarded to Thai Jatenipat Ketpradit for his portrait of a Syrian man in Ethiopia. Discover a selection of the most beautiful images.

The competition is open to amateurs and professionals and is suggested by the photographer Australian Peter Eastway with his publishing house, Pt 78 Pty Ltd. For the 2022 edition, four themes were chosen: a character study, an environmental portrait, a historical portrait and a family portrait.

A total of 101 rounds were selected. Thirteen photos were selected from among them, the first grand prize and three prizes in each category. The winners win $10,000 (9,800 euros) to be divided among themselves. The big winner wins $3,000 (€2945), the first prizes total $1,000 (€980) each, the second $500 (490€) and the third $250 ($245). In addition to this money, they receive a hard copy of the award book.

The first grand prize was awarded to Thai Jatenipat Ketpradit, a ten year professional photographer and director of an interior design firm. These four images were chosen, representing the way of life of a Syrian people, in Ethiopia. ” They are among the most inaccessible tribes in Ethiopia because they live in the mountains and it is difficult to approach them when you come from the outside world”said the photographer.
