City Park: a well-thought-out space

It is with great pleasure that, on Sunday 16 October, Mayor Valerie Bontemps presided over the opening of City Park located at the village exit in the direction of Mertrude.

After thanking all participants for coming, the mayor first confirmed that City-Park was designed and built for the welfare of the village children. However, this recreational place is open to all generations because it consists of a multifunctional land, two areas for children and a small floor, created at the request of the residents and which, by definition, is accessible to everyone. In addition to this pleasant equipment, a pedestrian path has been created along the road as well as a small car park that allows parking for several vehicles.

In conclusion, Valerie Bontemps indicated that the cost of this project is about 80 thousand euros, and thanked the funders of this project, the State, the Grand East Region and the Council of Districts, who contributed up to 75%.

Laurent Gouverneur, the department’s chancellor, welcomed this great initiative from a small town. Then he emphasized that the construction was well thought out, including the access path. He finally noted that the District Council goes hand in hand with the smaller municipalities and that this is the will of President Lacroix.

He took the word in turn, and after discovering that the residents of Bailey were called “little wooden beasts,” Saint-Disier’s deputy governor, Laurent Guillemot, confirmed his desire to be alongside elected officials. Because, through experience, he knows the limitations and joys of being a mayor. He was also pleased to note that there were many children at the opening, which indicates the interest of these young people in village life. Noting that the state had contributed €38,530, he explained that this endowment is a tangible accompanying gesture that makes it possible to have a social life in the village. Concluding his remarks, Laurent Guillemot emphasized that the creation of City-Park is fully in line with the spirit of the 2024 Games.
