This play is intended to be a sequel to Molière's Misanthrope, written by a contemporary Alexandrian author, Jacques Rampal.
Molière's Alceste does not capture the good practices of the court. He wants to escape from the hypocrisy surrounding him. In love with Selemene, he also doubts her sincerity and decides to leave everything behind… They meet again after 20 years of separation. Everyone has made their own lives. Alceste became a powerful cardinal, and Selémine married a bourgeois, mother of four children, and seemed to be living a happy life. Why would he want to see her again? Will he still be in love? And Celimene, have you forgotten everything?
