Trainer Paul Nelson warns that The Shackler is likely to be a run away from peak form, but his credentials still make him a force to be reckoned with in Saturday’s $50,000 Porritt Sand Waikato Hurdles. The Shackler has won three times over hurdles, all of them last winter – a 20-length maiden win at Trentham, a 26-length win in a restricted open event at Te Rapa, and a relatively narrow win by four and a quarter lengths in the Wellington Hurdles at Trentham.
