When I ask the question how old is too old, I am not referring to those octogenarians amongst us who regularly contribute to this publication! A while ago a prestigious Facebook page devoted to thoroughbred breeding raised the question as to whether stallions or mares, at some latter stage in their career, become too old to be able to produce top-class progeny.
