Multiple Group winner Julius could line up in the Foxbridge Plate in August.
The Gr. 2 Foxbridge Plate is on the radar for emerging star sprinter Julius, who has returned to John Bell's Cambridge stable.
The lightly raced son of Swiss Ace has won six of his 10 career starts, and he was unbeaten in a three-start campaign this season including the Gr. 3 Concorde Handicap and Darley Stallions Plate at Ellerslie.
“He’s still such a kid, he’s so immature,” Bell told www.theinformant.co.nz. “He’s bouncing around all over the place.
“We had him on the walker for three weeks, and he’s been back at the track since the 1st of this month. He’s looking great. I had one of my new riders on him the other day, and they couldn’t believe how powerful he is. He’s amazing.
“We’re looking at the Foxbridge for him. August 18 isn’t that far away now, and it’ll come up quite quickly. It would be good to get him there, but I haven’t had a look yet at suitable prep races and things like that.
“Storming The Tower’s half-sister (Underthemoonlight) won the race last year and it was quite wet that day, which might not suit this horse. He’s handled ground that’s a little bit rain-affected, but it’s not really his preference. So we’ll just need to see what it’s likely to be like in August this time around.”
