The very good running of Théo Pourchaire in Hungary

Weaned off victory in Formula 2 since Imola last April, Théo Pourchaire won this Sunday in Hungaroring and gets closer to Championship leader Felipe Drugovich.

Théo Pourchaire has fully recovered in the direction of travel! Three months after his recent success in Formula 2 at Imola, the French driver dominated the contested main race on Sunday at Hungaroring. Starting in fourth, the native Grass attempted a hit by taking the first corner from the outside. Bringing more speed, he managed to settle for second place behind Marcus Armstrong. Théo Pourchaire managed the deterioration of his soft tires as much as possible and curbed Ayumu Iwasa’s attacks, waiting for the ninth of 37 laps in the program to dive into the pits at the same time with the New Zealander and the Japanese. However, thanks to the greater efficiency of the mechanics, the ART Grand Prix driver was able to take advantage of Marcus Armstrong. Enzo Fittipaldi surprised the latter, who was less comfortable warming his middle tires, who extended his first stint by two laps.

Pourchaire puts pressure back on Drugovich

The goal of the Habs was to dodge the attack and conserve the tires while the drivers who started with the toughest rubber jumped out front, including teammate Frederic Veste. Punished by five seconds for forcing Enzo Fittipaldi off the track at the start of the race, the Dane plunged into the hierarchy. But, taking advantage of the soft tyres, he attacked like hell to climb to fourth, eight tenths of a second off the podium. Theo Borshire won ahead of Enzo Fittipaldi and Ayumu Iwasa, but above all, the Frenchman took advantage of Felipe Drogovic’s setbacks to move closer to the championship. In fact, among the first to switch from soft to medium tyres, the Brazilian suffered a lot at the end of the race and only Logan Sargent, who also lost significantly in the standings, was able to take ninth place. With 25 points from that victory, Théo Pourchaire is close to Felipe Drugovich’s 21 points ahead of the summer break.
