“The Lord of the Rings” series: Amazon is not filming the second season in New Zealand!
Amazon's “The Lord of the Rings” series is set to move outside New Zealand with season two. The new episodes will be filmed in different locations.
- The first season of The Lord of the Rings series was filmed in New Zealand, but now Amazon is relocating production.
- The second season of the highly anticipated fantasy series is set to film in the UK.
- The reason for postponing filming is unclear. It is also uncertain whether small film crews may return to New Zealand.
In the spirit of Peter Jackson, Amazon has brought the fantasy world of Middle-earth to life in the “Lord of the Rings” series in New Zealand. But with filming on the first season of the LOTR series complete and the stars gradually able to leave New Zealand, it looks like Amazon is packing all its bags.
The second season of the “Lord of the Rings” series is supposed to be shown in an American magazine Entertainment Weekly Accordingly, the film will not be filmed in New Zealand, but in Great Britain. Production on the new episodes is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2022.
The transfer of filming comes as a relative surprise, especially since Amazon received huge financial support from the state to produce the series in New Zealand. Perhaps filming on location was too complicated and time-consuming, so from now on more filming will be done in the studio.
Although this news may come as a surprise to many fans, one should never rule out the possibility of the film crew returning to New Zealand. Amazon may focus solely on work in Great Britain and send a smaller camera crew to New Zealand to capture shots of the incredible nature that makes up Middle-earth.
It has already been reported that subsequent seasons of The Lord of the Rings series will be much cheaper, as a lot of groundbreaking work has been accomplished in the first season that can be built upon in the second season. This also includes creating the fantasy world.
