What an achievement! At the age of 36, Richard Gasquet won the 16th title of his career in Auckland, dominating Cameron Norrie (4-6, 6-4, 6-4). Far from favoring expectations, Biterrois logically conceded the first round before getting up to pick up a combo all around. In the final set, Nouri rallied to lead 3-0 and then 4-1. But this Richard Gasquet has the resources and a five-game winning streak to beat the New Zealand native. With this success, the Frenchman became the oldest French winner in an ATP tournament. Even better, Gasquet, on the strength of 900 consecutive weeks in the ATP Top 100, will present himself with No. 42 in the world on Monday and arrive in fine form for the Australian Open.
