Strengthening the strategic partnership between ASEAN and New Zealand | international
Jakarta (VNA) – The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and New Zealand reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening and deepening their strategic partnership, at the ninth meeting of the Joint Cooperation Committee held via videoconference.
It is an annual meeting at the ambassadorial level to discuss measures aimed at enhancing the implementation of cooperation projects and activities between the two parties. The ceremony was attended by Ambassador Nguyen Hai Pang, Vietnam’s Head of Mission to ASEAN.
During the meeting, the two parties expressed their appreciation for the progress made in implementing the action plan ASEANNew Zealand for the period 2021-2025. In fact, during the first year of the plan, 61 out of 69 lines of action were implemented, focused on supporting the achievement of goals related to building
ASEAN group.
In the times ahead, ASEAN and New Zealand will continue to focus on realizing their action plan. The peripheral country will continue to assist the regional bloc members in complying with Sustainable Development Goals.
New Zealand will also work closely with ASEAN to contain the COVID-19 pandemic, research and develop vaccines, and support the group in promoting sustainable recovery.
