Stars from the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ Draw

  • Two-time world champion Carli Lloyd and presenter Amanda Davis will head the draw on Saturday
  • The list of notable assistants in particular includes Gilberto Silva and Jeremy
  • The qualifying nations and teams participating in the qualifiers will discover their future opponents during the ceremony held at the Aotea Center.

Two-time world champion Carli Lloyd is part of the massive group FIFA Legends Present at the Women’s World Cup Australia-New Zealand 2023™ Draw to be held in Auckland / Tamaki Makurao on Saturday 22 October.

Among the assistants are former New Zealand international Maya Jackman and former Australian international player Julie Dolan, as well as former international television presenter Ian Wright, 2002 world champion Gilberto Silva, former US international Alexi Lalas and former Cameroon international Jeremy.

Lloyd will lead the lottery with CNN anchor Amanda Davis. The duo will be in charge of the technical portion of the event, which will begin at 7:30 p.m. local time (8:30 a.m. CET) on Saturday.

For Lloyd, the draw is an event that players, coaches and fans have come to expect: “Given the expanded format of this edition, there will be more excitement than usual during the draw on Saturday. In Auckland. Other sports will already be in the spotlight, with New Zealand snowboarder Zoe Sadosky Sinnott, Olympic swimming champion, and Australian swimmer Kate Campbell, three-time Olympic gold medalist, among the assistants alongside Jackman, Dolan, Wright, Gilberto, Lalas and Jeremy.

The event will be hosted by Kirsty Stanway (Sky Sports) and Mel McLaughlin (Channel Seven).

Up to 800 guests are expected, including FIFA President, Secretary General, Prime Minister of Aotearoa New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern and Australian Federal Minister of Sport Anika Wells, FIFA Legends As well as representatives of qualified teams and the international media.

The draw will split 32 teams – three of which will be known after the tournament ends next February – into eight groups of four. Thus, teams and their supporters will know their opponents in the first stage as well as the location of each of their three encounters.

Several packages of tickets for the competition are currently on sale, while an inventory of individual tickets will be available from October 25. With family rates starting at $20 AUD/NZD for adults and $10 AUD/NZD for children, the competition will be very affordable.
