Space: James Webb Telescope reveals stunning image of ‘ghost galaxy’
Since July 12, the James Webb Space Telescope has been giving us incredible images of the universe. A few days ago was the galaxy M74, known as the Ghost Galaxy, which can be observed.
The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) impresses us a little more each time. It’s been less than a month since he started his observations and yet the images he provides us astonish us. This time, images of the M74 galaxy have reached us. It is known to amateur astronomers, and nicknamed the Ghost Galaxy.

Our mirror galaxy
M74 is a spiral galaxy that looks like our own. Its shape and dimensions (about 95,000 light-years in diameter) are similar to the Milky Way. It is located about 30 million light-years from Earth.
Often studied by telescopes around the world, the new JWST image surprises with the number of details it shows us. It is possible to see about 100 billion solar masses.
Thus we see up close a bare galaxy, a great whirlwind of gas and dust forming its “skeleton”. Seeing the foundations of a galaxy very similar to our own is fascinating. We’ve never been able to see this in such detail
