Paris – The Ministerial Meeting on Science and Technology Policies of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) kicked off on Tuesday at the headquarters of the international organization in Paris, with the participation of Morocco.

The Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, Abdellatif Miraoui, heads the Moroccan delegation to this meeting, under the slogan “Shared Challenges and Transformative Actions.”

This meeting, chaired by France, and co-chaired by Austria, Colombia, Korea, Norway, Spain and Switzerland, aims to identify transformative actions in science, technology and innovation, to accelerate transformations towards greater sustainability, integrate shared values ​​into and govern emerging science and technologies, and strengthen the role of international cooperation in order to confront… Global challenges.

“This meeting aims to set a coordinated and practical agenda in the fields of science, technology and innovation,” French Minister of Higher Education and Research, Sylvie Rethilieu, said in a welcome message.

Participants at this meeting will work to develop an action-oriented declaration, encouraging key actors to adopt an ambitious policy of research and innovation in the face of environmental challenges that “leads us to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, especially with regard to the oceans,” she added.

In the face of various global challenges, primarily climate change, biodiversity protection or sustainable resource management, this event, which brings together ministers and high-level representatives from OECD member and non-OECD countries, as well as international organizations, allows different international delegations to bring together Together their transformational strategies in the areas of science, technology and innovation.
