New fitness area, freely accessible and open to the Saint-Junien Sports Park
Voted the most sporting city for 9 years, Saint Junien continues its developments in favor of sport and the 4,000 licensees listed in this city. A fitness area accessible for free has been installed at the entrance to the sports park.
Stretching, flexibility, weight training… the eight fitness machines available free of charge at the Saint-Junien Sports Park will help you stay fit.
Since its installation in June, some athletes have become accustomed to it.
“Not everyone has the ability to go to private gyms or pay a membership fee. That’s why we created this space that everyone can access at any time,” explains Hervé Baudet, mayor of Saint-Junien.
It works well, people come, and clubs also use these devices for their physical preparation, like footballers and rugby players in ASSJ.
QR codes are installed in front of the equipment to detect the required exercises. The covered and freely accessible fitness area is the “extra” version of the equipment we usually see.
Operation “5000 Sports Equipment”
The €80,000 device was 80% financed by the National Sports Agency and the Haute-Vienne Provincial Council, with the city of Saint-Junien having been selected as part of the “5,000 Sports Devices, Generation 2024” project.
The municipality will continue to develop this space with trees, ping pong tables and a picnic area.
“In terms of sports facilities, we have the equivalent of a city of 40,000 inhabitants. It is an option because you have to understand that we have 4,000 licensees in San Juniño (Editor's note: 11,500 people“It’s a great sport,” concludes Hervé Boudet, who has 32 sports disciplines in the glove-making city.
Sports park alley turned into a sports track
Another operation co-financed with 30,000 euros by the National Sports Agency and La Française des Jeux is the installation of a track and field track.
This straight line will replace the central alley, which is now paved, without preventing pedestrian traffic.

It's a fun trail, with a platform and arch at the end and a free attached bike available.
The goal is to get young people wanting to practice.
Work will begin at the beginning of the school year in the San Junian Sports Park.
New artificial grass
Another project underway: the renovation of the artificial pitch.
First seen in Haute-Vienne 16 years ago, the artificial turf will be replaced and its use upgraded.
Everything will be ready in early September.
