Yannick Lefebvre and Jan Huynink moved into sixth place in the 49er class after day two of the European Windsurfing Championships on Thursday in Vilamoura, Portugal.

The Belgian duo, who were 63rd after the first day, finished fifth, third and sixth in the day’s three regattas, allowing them to nullify Wednesday’s result. They jumped to sixth place with 14 points after 4 boat races. New Zealanders Isaac McHardy and William McKenzie, who are not competing for the European title, lead with 6 points, one point ahead of Austrians Keanu Breitner and Jakob Flashberger. Jan van Merke and Leonard de Silva are ranked 87th out of 91 crews with 73 points.

In 49erFX, Isaura Maenhaut and Anouk Geurts dropped from 12th to 16th place (out of 55 crews) with 43 points after 6 regattas. They finished seventh, 11th, 11th and 10th on Thursday. Italians Gianna Germani and Giorgia Bertozzi lead with 12 points.

In Nacra 17, after the first five regattas – including four contested on Thursday – Lukas Claessens and Janis Ravelingen (75 points) are 21st, Quentin and Liselotte Borges (110 points) are 31st, and Arthur de Jonghe and Mira Vanroes ( 131 points) 36th place out of 38 entered. Italians Gianluigi Ugolini and Maria Jubili (10 points) lead the way.

In each category, an Olympic ticket is offered to a European country that has not yet qualified. Belgium has already secured a place at the 49erFX Games thanks to Mainhout and Geerts, who finished fourth at the World Championships in Scheveningen in mid-August.
