Intel will release Raptor Lake desktop processors as early as Q3 2022

Once again, a two-step launch, with mobile chips that won’t arrive until the fourth quarter.

Last week, Intel fell back on a few words about The thirteenth generation kernel, codenamed Raptor Lake. Like some Alder Lake chips, these will benefit from a hybrid architecture with two types of CPU cores; Only maximum configurations will be 24 cores / 32 threads thanks to the number of electronic cores multiplied by two (up to 16 electronic cores). Intel has not set a specific release date yet, but the Raptor Lake processors are expected to arrive in late 2022. However, as per Moore’s Dead Law, the company has decided to go ahead with the release. A few months: This is preferably due in the third quarter.

MLID believes that Raptor Lake desktop processors will debut in July, August or September. Remember that the first Alder Lake processors, the K models, have been available since November 2021, but the bulk of the troops have only been there since January.

In terms of Raptor Lake processors for laptops, MLID expects to release them in the last quarter of 2022.

Note that this change in the schedule can be driven by the opponent’s moves: he says to himself AMD will also release Ryzen 7000 “Raphael” in the summer.

8-15% performance increase per core

MLID also presents its predictions regarding generational performance gains. According to him, compared to Alder Lake, Raptor Lake will allow increments of 8-15% in single cores, and between 30-40% in multi-core (presumably the gains in advanced multi-cores here include the increase in CPI as well as eight additional cores ).

The Raptor Lake desktop processors will retain the LGA1700 socket and Intel 7 notch that Alder Lake opened. They should normally be compatible with 600 series motherboards.
