A 21-year-old man, attending a night party at a hotel in Antwerp (Belgium), was killed in violation of containment rules, on the night of Saturday 10 April to Sunday 11 April while trying to flee the police, he said. The prosecution.
The police, who received several calls about noise pollution, intervened on Sunday around 4 am. Then the eight people present, including the victim, tried to go into hiding, the Antwerp Prosecutor’s Office said, which opened an investigation.
According to the first elements of the investigation, the 21-year-old died after falling from the fourth floor, apparently trying to escape through the bedroom window, according to what a spokesman for the prosecution told AFP.
Gatherings of more than four people outside the home are currently prohibited in Belgium as part of measures to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.
Psychological support was provided to clients and staff of the hotel, which is located in the heart of Antwerp, as well as to the other seven participants who were shocked by the tragedy. The police also heard the latter.
In another part of the city, a woman was injured in the shoulder on Saturday when she jumped out of the window in an attempt to escape, and police intervened during an evening that gathered 16 people.
