New Zealand fly-half Ihaia West are set to sign a three-year contract with former club Stade Rochelais after leaving the club to join RC Toulon last summer.

Flyhalf Ihaia West has reached an agreement with his former club, La Rochelle, on a three-year contract. West’s current club RCT will release him this summer so he can join his former club. At present, all the agreements between the various parties have been found, but the recent administrative documents have not yet been finalized. If all goes well, West will wear the colors of La Rochelle again in a few months, a year after he left for Toulon, where he signed a contract until 2025.

West seems drawn to the opportunity to return to La Rochelle, where he spent four seasons between 2018 and 2022, even winning the Champions Cup last year. This return also seems to have been well received by the Stade Rochelais captains and supporters, who kept good memories of him.

On the Toulon side, the club has already started looking for a replacement for the New Zealand player who does not want to be Welshman Dan Biggar’s replacement at Toulon next year. Several leads were outlined by RCT to replace West in the workforce. The arrival of a new fly-half will obviously be crucial for Toulon, but for now everyone is eagerly waiting to see West don La Rochelle’s colors again.
