The idea for the comedy series “Starstruck” came from actress Rose Matafio, who starred in the movie BBC– Take charge of production. Her best friend and roommate Kate, played by Emma Sidey in the series, also lives with the real-life stand-up actress and comedian. Starstruck premiered on UK broadcasting platform BBC iPlayer in April 2022 and won Best Comedy Series at the 2022 Broadcast Awards. The series’ second season ran before the first season aired.

The plot of “Starstruck”: what is the theme of the series?
Young Rose immigrated from New Zealand and settled in the Hackney area of London. There she enjoys her single life to the fullest and prefers a one-night stand rather than looking for a permanent partner. After a raucous New Year’s party, she wakes up in a strange apartment and is surprised to discover that she has ended up in bed with movie star Tom Kapoor. It’s just one more night for them at first, but Tom seems to see more in Rose. However, due to Tom’s celebrity status, getting to know each other became more than a mess.
