In the sportingly meaningless prestige duel between England and Germany, the high score second half provided the best entertainment in 3:3. The Germans advanced 2-0 until the 67th minute thanks to goals from Ilkay Gundogan and Kai Havertz.

But only five minutes later, Luke Shu started an amazing turn with a flick. Within 11 minutes, Mason Mount and Harry Kane gave a surprising lead to Gareth Southgate’s side, who have only scored once from a penalty kick in their five Nations League matches so far.

Italy overtook surprise Hungary on the final day of the Nations League thanks to a 2-0 win in a direct duel and qualified as the third team for the final tournament in June.

The Italians held the chance to qualify for the Final Four in June 2023 in the Netherlands thanks to a 1-0 win over England in the Euro final replay on Friday. And the European champions, who have not always acted convincingly lately and are still in turmoil after winning the European Championship, have emerged in Budapest as a team that needs to win.

The Hungarians, who could have defended their lead with a draw, got into trouble before the Azzurri. The Hungarian goalkeeper was unable to send a pass back to Peter Golassi because former FCZ player Wilfried Gonto was more on the ball. Gnonto’s partner in strike, Giacomo Raspadori, played around Gulacsi, who was lying on the ground, and scored 1-0.

Federico Dimarco lifted him to Italy right after the break by completing a strong group. Hungary, which played with Basel striker Adam Szalay until the 75th minute, could not respond to coach Roberto Mancini’s team, which finished third in the last Nations League.
