Short Films on Jewish Life: Autumn Film Exhibition at #LWL- #Museum for #Art and #Culture
Münster (lwl) The Landschaftsverband Westfalen-Lippe (LWL) is organizing a short film evening on Jewish life and culture at the LWL Museum of Art and Culture in Münster on Tuesday 9 November 2021 at 7.30pm. The third evenings of a total of five films will be held as part of the film exhibition “Le Chaim ?? Jewish life in cinema. Jens Schneiderheinz of “Die Lince” presents this evening.
On that evening, the program presents a total of six short films, depicting different aspects and figures depicting the reality of Jewish life. The starting point for the selection of films is the award-winning work “Masel Tov Cocktail”.
The films show different perspectives of generations when dealing with the past and the present. The Holocaust has also been a problem over the past few decades. Against the backdrop of renewed right-wing extremism, the abstract warning is given more concrete starting points. Filmmakers are increasingly choosing unusual forms of expression. This also applies to the 11-year-old director Samuel Topali’s animated film “Die #Shoah”, which was produced in 2021. Increasingly, the focus is also on the second and third generations of Jews in the Federal Republic. Changing a generation alters the perspective of the past and the present, and the generational divides and differences in personal interest are revealed in the film «The Booths».
The Autumn Film Festival season at the LWL Museum of Arts and Culture is dedicated to the commemorative year “1700 Years of Jewish Life in Germany”, which the museum addresses with book presentations, #concerts, panel discussions and film series. At the film exhibition »Le Chaim?? Jewish Life in the Cinema «, five films can be seen until November 24, 2021. Entry to film evenings costs five euros each, # tickets are available online and at the box office. The third generation regulation applies.
