Season Two in the UK

Amazon series the Lord of the Rings Production moved from New Zealand to the UK for the second season!

Amazon Studios confirms that the series is based on the Lord of the Ringsstill untitled, Leaving New Zealand. Instead, the second season will be filmed in the UK. In a statement, Amazon claimed that “The move from New Zealand to the UK is in line with the studio’s strategy to expand its manufacturing footprint and invest in film studios across the UK.”.

Filming for the first season wrapped up on August 2 in New Zealand, where Peter Jackson also filmed a trilogy inspired by the work of JRR Tolkien. The decision to abandon those magical places, which are now the “middle ground” of our world in the collective imagination, is certainly a risky one.

Although the second season will take place in the United Kingdom, the series will not leave New Zealand entirely. Amazon confirms that the first season of the show will run in post-production in New Zealand until June 2022. Pre-production for the second season will begin in the UK in early 2022.

However, the decision to move filming to the UK seems disappointing Elijah wood, translated by Frodo Baggins in the previous films of the fantasy franchise. On Twitter, the actor shared the news with an emoji that leaves no room for interpretation:

The Amazon series will arrive on Prime Video on Friday, September 2, 2022.
