xrOS: The Reality Pro headset OS name has been registered in New Zealand
Clues are piling up regarding upcoming product names an Apple related to mixed reality. So it would be Reality Pro for the helmet, RealityOS for the operating system of the hardware connected to the helmet, and xrOS for the operating system of the helmet itself. All the while, Mark Gurman found out about registering a trademark for xrOS…in New Zealand! The trademark was registered by a company called Deep Dive LLC, and everything indicates that it is a shell company that allows Apple to hide sensitive information a few months before the helmet is presented. The xrOS trademark registration is not accompanied by any description, which confirms a little more that the company making the filing wants to evade any information that would confirm the rumors.
Shell continues to file trademarks globally for “xrOS” – the name Apple uses internally for its headphone operating system. The most recent was earlier this month in New Zealand. https://t.co/zPoMafVmAE pic.twitter.com/Pea7wjkPYv

It’s also possible, but unlikely, that a patent troll might have heard about the “leaks” on Apple’s headphones and rushed to file a trademark…which he could then negotiate with Apple. The Reality Pro helmet should be presented during the spring according to the latest rumors, shortly before or during the next WWDC.
