DrIt has been years since Cédric Dumas worked on his new project in the Route de Bordeaux entertainment area, in Saint-Laurent-des-Vignes, near Bergerac. At the end of March and beginning of April, Bergerac residents will be able to find out the result. In a new building of 1,260 square metres, they will first be able to enjoy climbing. “We will introduce blocks, tracks and something more fun with Clip'n Climb [en français ‘‘Clipsez et grimpez’’]. “It's the first of its kind in the Périgord,” explains the man who has been running the P'tits Castors theme park since 2012.

The spacious room will offer several units designed by New Zealand company Clip'n Climb, which launched its first park in 2005. Unlike other facilities open to children from 10 years old, these units will be accessible from 9 years old. Everything will work thanks to the self-locking system. “We will be offering late-night events on Thursdays and Fridays, but we will be checking in with customers to adapt,” explains Cédric Dumas. We will offer Christmas packages, but we can also work with businesses. »

Beer cellar and brewery

Since Cédric Dumas did not envision just a climbing gym, he also planned to combine a beer cellar with a franchised but independent brewery, under the Cervoiserie brand. “There is a barrier separating the two spaces but everything communicates,” says the president. The cellar opened at the beginning of April and will serve 500 French, Belgian and local beers. A small meal plan is available at lunchtime, while in the evening you can enjoy aperitifs, hot entrees and pizza. “We are opening an outdoor terrace overlooking the Dordogne River,” explains Cédric Dumas. We will also have three petanque courts. » Cédric Dumas also looks for groups to provide the musical atmosphere.

Bergeracois has invested more than one million euros in this project. He points out that if it takes time, “it is because the matter is more complicated today with banks.” The president, who also runs Aquitaine Génie Climatique, was still able to carry out the plumbing, air conditioning, electrical and tiling work himself with his teams. In March, he will liquidate the construction business he started 21 years ago to attend to other work.

Playing card

Because, for him, the Bordeaux Road entertainment district has a real card to play. Cédric Dumas knows this sector well: in 1988, his parents helped create the bowling alley, one of the leading companies in the sector. In 1994, it was his parents who also gave birth to the water park. It closed in the summer of 2023, and is not expected to reopen in 2024, especially due to excessively high electricity bills.

“We cannot have two entertainment areas in Bergerac.”

“We cannot have two entertainment areas in Bergerac, and we do not have as many clients as in Bordeaux,” he points out. Even within a region, you should avoid having duplicates. In the end, we have to work in harmony, for example, with the loyalty card that will be placed among us. »

Project in Chris

Things should be moving soon on the land opposite the McDonald's restaurant next to the Intermarché des 3V in Creysse. A Bordeaux developer has obtained a building permit to build commercial buildings on this vast 2.2-hectare plot of land. According to our information, the DIY brand Brico Dépôt will be the most expected in this region. Less successful, a padel project will be in the works in the city.
