Washington wants to prevent Putin and Lavrov from entering the US

The United States, like the United Kingdom and the European Union, will impose sanctions on Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

The White House announced Friday evening, that the United States wants to deprive Putin and Lavrov of its territory, in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on Thursday.

White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said Friday that the travel ban to the United States would be “part of” US sanctions against Russian President Vladimir Putin and his foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov.

“It is a usual element” of sanctions against foreign figures, she added, stressing that the details of these historic sanctions against the Russian president will be revealed later.

Putin and Lavrov are already on the EU and London sanctions lists
