Washington threatens to make Russia a “pariah” in the event of an attack

A senior White House official has threatened to isolate Russia internationally if the country tries to invade Ukraine. Further evidence of the still very high tensions in this case.

A senior White House official warned Friday that international sanctions promised by the West if President Vladimir Putin decided to send troops to invade Ukraine would make Russia a “pariah.”

“You will be shunned by the international community,” White House Deputy National Security Adviser Dalip Singh told reporters.

He explained before confirming that Russia will be “isolated from global financial markets and will be deprived of the most advanced technological inputs”, before confirming that the United States is “ready” in the event that Russia uses resources .. in energy as a tool of pressure.

Nord Stream 2 is still in the balance

“We have taken steps (…) to coordinate with the largest energy consumers and energy producers to ensure we have a continuous energy supply, and stable energy markets,” Dalip Singh supported.

Washington had already said that the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, which connects Russia with Germany by sea, would not come into operation if Moscow were to attack Ukraine.

At the same press conference, White House hacking adviser Anne Neuberger accused Russia of being “responsible” for recent cyber attacks targeting several official Ukrainian military websites and state-owned banks, attacks that the Kremlin has denied responsibility.
