“Very dangerous and intrusive”: Teens love it. New TenTen app disrupts classrooms, and a teacher sounds the alarm
French app TenTen launched on April 4 and is the most popular app on the App Store, with 1 million downloads.
The principle is simple, the TenTen application is used to communicate with friends in the form of a walkie-talkie. Simply enter your contacts and then press a button to leave a voice message. This is received instantly by the recipient, without them opening the application.
Very intrusive new fashion
The app's message is clear: “Sing, shout, or whisper… your friends will hear you in real time, even when the phone is locked!”. The method of work was strongly criticized.
The messages students received frequently interrupted teachers during lessons, prompting adults to ask questions. “Very dangerous and intrusive. I have a student who started the app on Tuesday morning, turned red, and reached into his bag to clumsily try to turn off his phone.”,The teacher testifies on the network Reddit.
TenTen has also made waves on TikTok with several testimonials warning of the dangers it can cause. In addition to intruding into users' private lives, it requests access to a lot of personal data. The user's IP address, device characteristics, and location are automatically collected.
TenTen recently spoke out in an Instagram post to try to smooth things over: ““No one can listen to your conversations, not even us.”
“Incurable web evangelist. Hipster-friendly gamer. Award-winning entrepreneur. Falls down a lot.”
