Venice International Film Festival 2021 is a date. The main award, the Golden Lion, went to the French feature film “L’évènement” by Audrey Diwan (born 1980) on Saturday night.

“Stata la mano di dio” (The Hand of God) by Italian director Paolo Sorrentino (51) was awarded the Silver Lion and the Grand Jury Prize. Jane Campion (67) won the Silver Lion for Best Director for ‘Dog Power’ from New Zealand/Australia.

Awards for Penelope Cruz and Maggie Gyllenhaal

The Spanish Penelope Cruz (47) was selected in the Annals of this year’s festival as the best actress in the drama “Madris Parallas” directed by and its compatriot Pedro Almodovar (71). The male counterpart at the event stopped by the evening of the Philippines John Arquilla (55) for his role in “At Work: Missing 8”.

American actress Maggie Gyllenhaal, 43, won best screenplay for “The Lost Daughter,” which is also her directorial debut.

Italian actor and director Roberto Benigni (68 years old) received the Golden Lion for his life.
