Abortion drama honors the golden lion
French director Audrey Diwan won the Golden Lion for her film In Venice. Other award winners.
Venice International Film Festival 2021 It is history. The main award, the Golden Lion, went to the French feature film “L’évènement” by Audrey Diwan (born 1980) on Saturday night.
“Stata la mano di dio” (The Hand of God) by Italian director Paolo Sorrentino (51) was awarded the Silver Lion and the Grand Jury Prize. Jane Campion (67) won the Silver Lion for Best Director for ‘Dog Power’ from New Zealand/Australia.
Awards for Penelope Cruz and Maggie Gyllenhaal
The Spanish Penelope Cruz (47) was selected in the Annals of this year’s festival as the best actress in the drama “Madris Parallillas” directed by and its compatriot Pedro Almodovar (71).
