This “pay to win” skin from Modern Warfare 3 has just been deactivated
Modern Warfare 3 developers Sledgehammer Games temporarily disabled the Gaia skin, more commonly known as “Groot,” in the November 30 update, after weeks of complaints from players.
Although the Groot skin did not arrive with Modern Warfare 3, but rather was carried over from Modern Warfare 2, it became a much bigger issue with the launch of the new game, as more and more players were exposed to it and realized how flawed it was.
Since its release, the Gaia skin has been a major source of concern for players, both in Warzone and in multiplayer, as the translucent nature of the skin makes it extremely difficult to see in combat, much like last year’s Roze skin that shocked players in Verdansk during his debut .

However, in the November 30 MW3 update, the skin was finally disabled as developers look for a way to make it fairer, amid ongoing discussions about the game’s “pay-to-win” share of players killed by those using it.

The developer has stated that these skins will not disappear forever, saying so “[l]Players can expect these items to be re-enabled in a future game update with changes to make aiming easier.

Someone joked, perhaps in the spirit of the holidays, that they should add Christmas lights to the skin to help make it more visible.
Whatever the developers decide, MW3 and Warzone players can play knowing there are no players hiding among those plants in the corner.
