The Fir, New Zealand Summer Tour has been canceled
Innocenti: “We will welcome all blacks in Italy next fall.”
Italian Rugby Union can confirm that the New Zealand summer tour, originally scheduled for July 2021, with two test matches against the All Blacks on July 3 and 10, will not take place.
The decision was made after consultations with World Rugby, New Zealand Rugby Union, government and health authorities in the two countries and after exploring every possible alternative.
Even in rugby today, the Summer Tours still represent a precious human and sporting adventure. A tour in New Zealand, and the opportunity to challenge the All Blacks to two consecutive test matches, is every player’s ambition. For our national team, for the many young people who have appeared on the international stage in In recent seasons, this summer’s tour was an exceptional training moment.After long and constructive consultations between our federations and their national authorities, and after exploring possible alternatives alongside World Rugby, we had to note, despite ourselves and our deep regret, how the current circumstances had made them preferable to them.
