The exhibition Dilettante at Espace Mathurin-Méheut, in Roscoff, has welcomed more than 700 visitors – Roscoff

Dilettante, an event dedicated to amateur artists whose second edition has just ended, has kept its promise. Designed by the Society for Art and Culture with the aim of “promotion, encouragement and promotion of artistic creation,” it has entertained 738 visitors in the Ranecke Great Room in the Mathurin-Méheut space in Roscoff.

398 creations were shown

The Roscovite Society was able to satisfy 30 exhibitors, due to the capacity of the room, while the demand was double. If painters had the upper hand, four sculptors and five photographers were in the game, too. 398 works of art were shown: 314 paintings, 36 sculptures, and 48 photographs. Among them are mosaics, paintings on pebbles, slabs or complexes of shells. Achievements ranged from a painted pebble 8 cm in diameter to a 320 kg statue.

Diverse audience

Reception volunteers describe a curious crowd made up of Ruskovites or close residents such as vacationers from several regions or representing several nationalities. An opportunity for a picnic or a family outing for some, while others made the trip especially to admire the paintings. It offered a surprising variety of creations as well as their quality in the case of amateur artists.

Three creations chosen by the visitors will be used as the basis for the poster for the third edition in 2024. The event was also a source of exchanges between the visitors and also with the exhibitors who were happy to attend and welcome the audience. The members of the Society who had taken turns in the room for 15 days did not fail to come together in a Spanish lodge at the end of the fair.
