The end of the Silver Lake series
The fifteenth world began Rugby: The 15 best paid players
This long-running dossier is finally complete: the New Zealand Federation has entered into an agreement on Thursday with US investment fund Silver Lake. After several months of waiting, this project has finally officially seen the light of day. This project was significantly delayed due to requests for additional information from New Zealand’s provinces.
The partnership, which was entered into for NZ$200 million (about €122 million), is aimed at managing the commercial rights of All Blacks. Therefore Silver Lake holds a partial interest in the commercial rights of the New Zealand Federation. A commercial company will be created, in which NZ$200 million will be invested, and the union will remain the majority. An investment of NZ$100 million will be proposed at a later time.
New Zealand Rugby director Stuart Mitchell spoke of the partnership as a “historic moment in the history of New Zealand rugby”.
“It’s great that we’re heading into this next phase with a focus on how together we can make the best rugby result.”
New Zealand Rugby members gave majority approval to partner with Silver Lake.
