Surprisingly, Square Enix is presenting Visions of Mana at the Xbox conference, which will be released in the summer of 2024! | X-Box

Xbox and Square Enix publicly confirmed their mix this past summer and to show that the publisher is definitely angrier than the brand, it made a surprise appearance at the Xbox conference to talk about Visions of Mana.

Visions of Mana will be released this summer on Xbox

It's a strong signal to the Japanese audience that Xbox is sending today by revealing a new gameplay mode for Visions of Mana, announced last December during the Game Awards.

As a reminder, this new game returns to its roots of action-RPGs in an adventure described as “expansive and lively” in a semi-open world. Masaru Oyamada, producer of Secret of Mana, has prepared a speech for the occasion to remind people that this new work is the first in the franchise to present such vast 3D worlds and offer the freedom to explore them.

As a reminder, Visions of Mana is a single-player game that puts you in the shoes of Val, a curious and carefree young man, but also an experienced fighter. One eventful night, her childhood friend is chosen to be her friend – someone who must travel to the Mana Tree and replenish the flow of mana power. Val joins her as a spirit guardian to protect her during her journey, and an epic adventure begins.

As Val, you will explore vast territories, fight monsters, gain allies, and uncover the many secrets of this vast world. What a world! As you can see from the screenshots and trailer, it's a beautiful, vibrant game with rich colors and expressive characters.

This beauty translates into equally exciting combat. Aerial combat allows for physical and magical attacks in the air, and the greater and arcane powers of elemental spirits can aid players in the form of specialized weapons.

Rest assured, each Mana game has its own standalone adventure, with its own characters, its own stories, and even its own gameplay mechanics. There is rarely a narrative connection between them – instead they are linked by elements such as monsters.
