Springer Group has secured new major order from New Zealand’s Pan Pac. The company is part of Japan’s OJI Group, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of pulp and paper. Pan Pac is New Zealand’s leading specialist in sustainable Pinus Radiata (Monterey Pine) products. As a general supplier, the Austrian family company Springer will work with local partners to implement a new heavy-duty earthquake-resistant saw feeder at the Pan Pac site in Whirinaki (Hawk Bay). The investment is approximately 13 million New Zealand dollars (about 7.8 million euros).
This is a heavy duty saw feeder with two parallel double feed platforms. In addition, the latest generation screw conveyor technology is used in heavy-duty design and intelligent sensing technology. The latter allowed for continuous scanning of the filling level of loading surfaces as well as continuous recording of records for the entire separation and assignment area.
“The investment in revamping the saw feeder, originally installed in the early 1980s, underlines the continuing commitment of OJI Holdings, the shareholder of Pan Pac.” Tony Clifford, Managing Director of Pan Pac, said, “These strategic investments have helped solidify the Pan site. Pac as New Zealand’s largest exporter of premium quality optically sawn timber for the entire Asia region. ”In order to reduce downtime, system integration as well as project start-up and handover are planned within the regular plant shutdown at the end of 2022. Springer has already begun supporting Pan Pac In developing the new heavy-duty saw feeder in 2917.
