“She kidnapped my grandmother’s enthusiasm while she was sleeping with her oxygen tank on,” says her grandson, Daniel
Three days after her release by Hamas, and two weeks into detention, Yocheved Lifshitz, 85, is worried about her husband’s health. His grandson, Daniel, agreed to testify on C News.
The families of hostages held by Hamas are increasingly concerned. Yocheved Lifshitz’s grandson, Daniel, 85, was relieved after she was released, but fear was soon replaced by joy as his grandfather remains held hostage in the Gaza Strip.
“When I was in the hospital with my grandmother, I told her about my grandfather and I saw that something was going on in his head, that something was off,” Daniel said into the CNEWS microphone.
“She didn’t know if he was conscious.”
The last photo Yocheved Lifshitz took of her husband is terrifying. “My grandmother remembers him lying on the ground at the entrance to the house on the kibbutz, in the sand, injured. Her grandson reported that she did not know if he was conscious.
Daniel is angry about his grandmother’s treatment. “Hamas kidnapped my grandmother while she was sleeping with her oxygen tank. How can you take away oxygen from an elderly person, take him on a motorcycle, hit him and almost break his ribs?” the young man testified.
At the beginning of the week, his grandmother spoke to the media about her 17 days of captivity. “I was lying on the bike with my body on one side and my legs on the other and the men hit me on the road. They didn’t break my ribs but they hurt me a lot and I had great difficulty breathing,” the octogenarian said.
The more minutes passed, the greater the risk to the hostages’ safety. Daniel requested the release of his grandfather and all the hostages.
