Twenty years and already in history. By winning the final match of the tilt swim on Sunday, February 6th in Zhangjiakou (China), Cui Sadovsky-Cenote awarded New Zealand its first-ever Olympic title at the Winter Games. This feat is even more significant as the ice skater achieved it on New Zealand’s National Day. Until then, only another country in the Southern Hemisphere, Australia, had managed to win a gold medal at the Winter Games.

Impressive in the third and final round of the slopestyle final, Zoi Sadowski-Synnott produced an amazing streak, allowing her to finish ahead of American Julia Marino (second) and Australian Tess Cody (third). Already winning the bronze medal in 2018 in Pyeongchang (South Korea) in the air grand event, the 20-year-old New Zealander made a perfect start to her games, which she will continue in the coming days with hopes of winning her second Olympic title.
