At 20, Zoi Sadowski Synnott made history on a Sunday at Zhangjiakou Snow Park. The New Zealander gave her country its first title at the Winter Olympics.
Australian-born Sadovsky Sinnot, 20, of Wanaka, won the title thanks to a stunning final run and a brutal final jump.
She already took bronze in 2018 over Big Air, a two-time world champion, and is now adding an Olympic gold medal to her roster.
The silver and bronze medals went to American Julia Marino and Australian Tess Coady in a competition marked by numerous collisions.
American Jimmy Anderson, Olympic champion in 2014 and 2018, finished only ninth after a failed race.
