Nia Konzer stopped by as an expert on ARD
From July 20, the women’s federation will again be in the spotlight: the team of Martina Voss-Tecklenburg will fight for the title at the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. Nia Konzer, who has been supporting the broadcast of women’s soccer matches on Channel One since 2006, is also on board for the last time. As the ARD announced Wednesday, Konzer is turning her back on her career as an ARD expert.
The message quoted the former world champion as saying, “With the 2023 World Cup, there is also a very long, eventful and beautiful joint road to reach the final.” “In the very long period that I have worked exclusively for the ARD as an expert, now is the right moment to find a new temporal balance to plot my diverse life around my family, professional challenges and other exciting projects and collaborations.”
ARD Sports Coordinator: Konzer is ‘a role model for many’
ARD sports coordinator Axel Palkowski explains that today it is a given that women soccer experts are seen on TV: “But when Nia started at ARD in 2006, she was the only soccer expert on German TV.” Thus Konzer was and remains “a role model to many”. It is not yet known if the 43-year-old will be in front of the camera for other stations in the future.
Konzer’s last appearance as an ARD expert is scheduled for Saturday, August 19, as part of the live broadcast of the World Cup third place match.
