New Zealand has captured her heart
Dolly Parton is considering opening a hotel in New Zealand.
The country legend fondly remembers her previous tours with duet partner Kenny Rogers. The two musicians particularly enjoyed performing Down Under. “I love New Zealand. I’ve been there a few times,” the 77-year-old revealed in an interview with New Zealand magazine Women’s Weekly. “Kenny Rogers and I spent five weeks in Australia and New Zealand on the ‘Islands in the Stream’ tour which We did it [2014] Made, we love people.
The two singers had the time of their lives during these weeks. “When we had a few days off, we enjoyed the scenery and we were tourists. Kenny was a photographer, so he took a lot of pictures of me and other things. “But we loved the people, we loved the food… we loved everything about it,” says interpreter “Jolene” Enthusiastically.
Dolly has since given up her busy touring life to spend more time with her husband, Carl Dean. However, she hopes to return to New Zealand one day – if not for the distance. “It’s 20 hours to get there! We can’t just say: ‘Oh, we’re going to New Zealand for the weekend.’
However, the Grammy winner is not ruling out a return. “Never take anything too hard. You never know when you will come back and for what reason. Maybe I will make a film and attend the premiere or build a hotel or something,” muses the star. “That would be a good reason to come. I just wish it was a little closer.”
